PSYCHO-EDUCATIONAL STRATEGIES FOR PARENTS AND TEACHERS OF CHILDREN WITH ADHD

Abstract
Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) is a genetic disorder of development, which main symptoms are: inattention, hyperactivity and impulsiveness. It is one of the most frequent childhood disorders, with an estimation of 3 to 5% in school children (Scandar, 2000). As for scientific advances, diagnosis and treatment of ADHD have received variations along time. For years individual diagnosis prevailed over focused treatment in children. However, in the latest decades, a more integrated vision of factors has come up for the design of interventions. Following this perspective, the present article describes a workshop on ADHD for parents and teachers.
