IMPLEMENTATION OF METAPHORS IN COGNITIVE THERAPY WITH CHILDREN

Abstract
This article considers the developmental and motivational difficulties that challenge the application of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy on infant population. Taken from the review of the evidence based literature, it is suggested that the use of metaphors, stories, analogies and other linguistic ways that correspond with the developmental moments and interests of the children, constitute some of the optimal resources to overcome these difficulties. Some interventions according to the different stages of the treatment are described through two clinical cases.
