Early Maladaptive Sch emas and Depressive Symptoms: A betwee n-group comparison study

Abstract
The present study assessed whether there is any difference in the scores obtained from early maladaptive schemas (EMS) in adults with and without depression and investigated whether EMS and depressive symptoms are associated in the sample. Participants were split into two groups according to the presence (n=120) or absence of depressive symptoms (n=118). A significant difference (p<0.05) was observed between the groups in all of the assessed schemas and schema domains. There was a positive relationship (p<0.001) between depressive symptoms and EMS (15 schemas and 5 schema domains).
