PSYCHOLOGICAL GROUP INTERVENTION IN PEOPLE WITH PSORIASIS: EFFECTIVENESS OF A PILOT PROGRAM


Abstract
Health professionals sometimes pay little attention to all areas involved in diseases such as psoriasis. This fact causes patient dissatisfaction with the treatment they follow. The aim of the current study was to design and apply a group psychological intervention for people suffering from psoriasis. The objective of the study was to design an apply a pilot psychological intervention of nine sessions for people with psoriasis. The sample used for this study was of seven people. We measured depression, anxiety and disability rating before and after the treatment. Moreover, follow-up at 3 and 6 months after the intervention were conducted. We analyzed the clinical change in the treatment group and in every participant individually. The results show the efficacy of the treatment and the changes were maintained during the follow-up.
