APPLICATION OF A CASE STUDY COGNITIVE-BEHAVIORAL PROTOCOL FOR THE MANAGEMENT OF CHRONIC PAIN

Abstract
Nowadays clinical psychology has tools such as the third generation of cognitive-behavioral therapies that play an essential role in improving quality of life in chronic-pain patients. This paper evaluates the application of a case study cognitive-behavioral protocol in a patient who suffered from supra-orbital neuralgia associated with anxiety and depression. Validation scales were used to assess the effectiveness of the intervention. The results show an improvement in the patient's anxiety levels, mood, daily activities, and physical pain. In conclusion, the cognitive-behavioral protocol seems to have helped to reduce the patient's chronic pain level, improve his associated comorbidities, and enhance his quality of life.
