GENDER ROLE, SELF-ESTEEM AND DEPRESSION IN WOMEN'S AND MEN'S IN THERAPY TO ACHIEVE REPRODUCTION: A GENDER ANALYSIS

Abstract
The aim of the study was to compare depression and recent symptoms between men and women, and its association with gender roles and self-esteem in three reproductive events: infertility, assisted reproduction and miscarriage. With a correlational design, gender role, self-esteem, depression, and recent symptoms were evaluated. Pearson correlation and t Student tests were applied. Due to the associations shown, a greater impact is observed in the group of women who used assisted reproduction. Differences between the sexes are in depression, self-esteem, recent symptoms, and male role, and they confirm that women report more symptoms than men. The associations found, may be indicators for work in psychotherapy.
