VARIABLES THAT INFLUENCE IN THE PERSONAL STYLE OF THE THERAPIST (PST) ON PSYCHOTHERAPISTS AND STUDENTSIN CLINICAL INTERNSHIP

Abstract
The Personal Style of the Therapist (PST) is a multidimensional construct present in any therapeutic process. The study's aim was to examine whether the theoretical approach, years of experience, academic degree, sex and age can predict the PST in trainee and in-training psychotherapists. The Personal Style of the Therapist Questionnaire (PST-Q) was completed by 103 participants. Only Attentional-Operative and Expression-Emotion factors were analyzable according to the reliability analysis performed. Data were analyzed using hierarchical [RMM1] multiple linear regression. The results indicated that the interaction [RMM2] between the variables therapeutic approach and years of experience can predict the Attentional-Operative style. That was not the case for the Expressive - Emotional style.
