APPLICATION OF PSYCHOLOGICAL CONTRACT THEORY IN INCENTIVE POLICIES OF LOGISTICS ENTERPRISES

Abstract
Logistics is a labor-intensive industry. Logistics enterprises need to effectively incentivize their employees. This paper firstly reviews the psychological contract theory and the employee incentive mechanism, and discusses about the application of the theory in the incentive policy of logistics enterprises. Then, a questionnaire survey was carried out among the employees of eight logistics enterprises in Shandong, China. The survey results were analyzed to evaluate the status quo of psychological contract incentive mechanism in logistics enterprises, and used to set up countermeasures for improving the incentive policy based on psychological contract. The results show that the employees of logistics enterprises are not satisfied with the workload, the communication with enterprises and their involvement in decision-making of enterprises. Hence, the logistics enterprises must make improvements in these aspects to incentivize their employees. This research helps logistics enterprises to formulate incentive policies for their employees, improve the employees’ enthusiasm for work, and promote the sustainable development of the logistics industry.
