Abstract
The mental health and positive emotion are critical to the working efficiency of the teaching staff and the education quality. This paper aims to identify how the mental health and positive emotion of teaching staff are influenced by continuous physical exercise. First, a questionnaire survey was carried out among the teaching staff engaged in elementary, secondary and higher education from Shijiazhuang, China. The questionnaire focuses on physical exercise, mental health and positive emotion, and utilizes the Kessler Psychological Distress Scale (K10) and the mental health scale. Then, the physical education frequencies of different types of teaching staff were compared from the angle of mental health and positive emotion. The results show that a portion of the teaching staff fails to participate in physical exercise in a continuous manner; the mental health of some teaching staff is not desirable, and could be promoted by physical exercise; physical exercise promotes the cultivation of positive mood; the individuals, the school, and the educational management department should work together to encourage continuous physical exercise for the teaching staff. This research helps to enhance the mental health and positive emotion of the teaching staff.
