Abstract
Preschool teachers in China are often working for a low salary. The pressure of low salary might be magnified by remuneration differences, hurting their psychological health. This paper mainly explores how the psychological health of preschool teachers is affected by remuneration differences and job satisfaction, under the pressure of low salary. The author carried out a questionnaire survey in 50 kindergartens of Henan Province, China, targeting the preschool teachers with a monthly income of less than 3,000 yuan. The enumeration differences, job satisfaction and psychological health of the respondents were analyzed descriptively based on the survey data. The results show that there are obvious enumeration differences between preschool teachers working in urban and rural areas, and between those working in private and public kindergartens; the job satisfaction of preschool teachers remains on a low level: interpersonal relationship is the most dissatisfied issue, followed by leaders and salary; the preschool teachers generally have a good psychological health, which could be further enhanced through the following measures: increasing the salary, reducing the differences in remuneration, perfecting welfare and insurance, providing promotion channels, etc. The research results help to promote the job satisfaction of preschool teachers and improve the quality of kindergarten education.
