ANALYSIS ON THE AESTHETICS OF THE ARCHITECTURAL FORM BASED ON IMAGE COGNITION

Abstract
From the perspective of imagery cognition, this paper mainly analyses the architectural form and its connotations of an ancient opera stage in China. The author firstly introduced the main structures of the opera stage, plus a brief description to each structure. Next, the situational perception of the architectural space was discussed based on modality, i.e. the information exchange between the subject and object of imagery. The author also explained how the visual language of the opera stage was perceived in material space, spiritual space and narrative space. Moreover, the imagery of the spatial form was discussed based on the interaction between the visual elements of the opera stage. Theories on image and sensation were adopted to interpret the cognition of aesthetic imagery in multi-dimensional space and complex contexts. The results show that imageology, philosophy, and aesthetics work together on architecture and cognition, realizing the panvisualization of the architectural space patterns. This research highlights the importance of aesthetics judgement in architectural design.
