EMPIRICAL ANALYSIS OF FOREIGN LANGUAGE LEARNING ANXIETY AMONG COLLEGE STUDENTS BASED ON NEUROPSYCHOLOGY


Abstract
Anxiety is an emotional factor that directly affects how well college students learn a foreign language. The influence has much to do with the neural mechanism of the brain. From the angle of neuropsychology, this paper empirically analyses the English learning anxiety among college students. Two surveys on English learning anxiety were carried out, respectively, among ordinary college students, and among non-English majors from different regions. Then, a control experiment based on neuropsychology was performed, with 30 students in the anxiety group and 30 in the control group. The network test paradigm (ANT) was adopted to evaluate alertness, orientation and execution control of each subject. The results show that English learning anxiety exists widely among college students, exerting a negative impact on their English learning performance. On this basis, several measures were proposed to alleviate Foreign language anxiety among college students. The research findings shed new light on the teaching model of foreign languages in colleges.
