INTERVENTIONS BASED ON GRATITUDE AND OPTIMISM REDUCE CHILDREN SOCIAL NEGATIVE INTERACTIONS
Abstract
In order to evaluate if the interventions in gratitude and optimism help to improve social relationships in children, an experimental study was designed over a total of fifty 9 year-old children, in a private school of Ciudad Autónoma de Buenos Aires, Argentina. The experimental group was exposed to interventions based on gratitude and optimism, while the control group was exposed to a neutral intervention. Sociometric, measures were used to evaluate the whole experience. After the interventions were performed, negative social relationships within the experimental group significantly decreased (by 44.69%), while no changes were observed in the control group. This experience, study proves the positive impact of this type of interventions over the social relationships of children in a school environment.
