Abstract
The aim of this paper is to present the psychological construct self-criticism and its relationship with the construct of maladaptative perfectionism. It reviews the relevance of both self-criticism and maladaptative perfectionism in the literature and the results of current research on these topics. We put a special emphasis on the maladaptative dimension of selfcriticism and its relationship with maladaptative perfectionism. We present a case report to illustrate the therapeutic strategies applied to modify perfectionistic beliefs.
