The Overlooked Presence of the Body: Body and (re) construction of identity
Abstract
This manuscript presents a critical synthesis of empirical research evidence and theoretical developments that give support to the importance of the body and body image regarding the construction of identity and its psychotherapeutic reconstruction. The paper is based on a relational constructivist conceptual framework, and it follows a structure focused on the dialectics between the (social and personal) construction of the self, and the construction of the (also social and personal) ideal.
