ASSESSMENT OF SOCIAL COGNITION IN OLDER ADULTS PRESENTATION OF THE BATTERY COGSOC-AM
Abstract
Social cognition (CS) is a multi-dimensional construct that includes emotional and reasoning processes to respond to complex everyday social situations, which usually is evaluated subjectively or indirectly. Older adults have difficulty when faced with this kind of task. The purpose of this work is to design a battery for the evaluation of the CS in older adults (COGSOC-AM). Here we present the preliminary version of the COGSOC-AM, which assesses three dimensions of the CS, social reasoning, emotional processing and decision making through six subtests: Identification of Absurdities, Understanding of Causal Relationships, Judgment, Recognition of Emotional Expressions on Faces, Scale of Decision-Making, and the Iowa Gambling Task.
