Interventions to the Promotion of Forgiveness and the Insertion of Empathy: Review of literature
Abstract
The interest for the study of forgiveness is related to personal and interpersonal benefits that follow it. In this paper we investigated the use of empathy in interventions to promote forgiveness. The method was a systematic review in the databases Pepsic, Lilacs, PubMed and PsycInfo, using the descriptors ""Forgiveness and Intervention"" and ""Forgiveness and Therapy"". The sample consisted of 20 articles, which were read, tabulated and analyzed. The results showed that in 90% of reviewed studies empathy was a resource used. We concluded that the promotion of victim's empathy by the offender is a key mechanism for obtaining forgiveness.
