Validation of Purpose in Life Test for Colombia
Abstract
The Purpose in Life –PIL- Test (Crumbaughr and Maholick, 1964) assesses the meaning of life and it has an extensive amount of research. However, in Latin America very few tests have been validated to measure the meaning of life, therefore, this research seeks to validate the PIL for Colombia from a three-factor model (Goals in life, Satisfaction with life and Sense of achievement). We compared this model with those proposed by the original authors of the test, and Farisides Morgan (2009) and Dufton and Perlman (1986) models. The study was done with a sample of 798 people, and the results show that the proposed structure of three factors has a greater clinical and theoretical usefulness.
