Day hospital designed to increase the ability to mentalize: 8 years of follow-up
Abstract
Pre-post study about what clinical and care variables may change in a Day Hospital (DH) designed to increase the ability to mentalize. Nonhomogeneous in diagnosis sample of 123 patients, who were in treatment at our DH. We analyze: 1) Responses to different scales, on admission and discharge of 50 patients from the sample. 2) Frequency of visits to psychiatric emergency and number of hospital admissions of the total sample. After the treatment, we find: 1) Improvement in depressive symptoms (Beck Inventory), anxiety (STAI), global functioning and decrease in hostility (Buss-Durkee), p-value <0.004. 2) Decrease in the number of emergencies and hospitalization. 3) No changes in social activity scale and contradictory results in impulsivity.
