Attachment in adolescence: a systematic review of latin american research during the last 15 years
Abstract
A systematic review of attachment research published between 2000 and 2015 with Latin American adolescents was carried out through Web of Science, Scopus, Ebsco, Scielo and Redalyc databases. The results from 19 selected articles show a small number of investigations, distributed in 5 countries. Most of the studies are cross-sectional, tend to include low and middle socio-economic status adolescents from the age of 14, mainly use self report questionnaires related to parent relationships and aim to investigate about associations between attachment and psychopathology, psychological adjustment, specific relational contexts, such as adoption, or they are oriented towards the validation of instruments. Based on these results, challenges for adolescence attachment research in Latin America in the future are pointed out.
