Psychotherapy Focused in Cancer Patients: Results of treatment in a naturalistic context
Abstract
The objective of the research has been to evaluate the results of the structured psychotherapy in a naturalistic environment by means of the utilization of psychometric instruments that were allowing to quantify the response to the treatment and the quality of the same one. There were studied the processes of psychological treatment of 185 oncology patients selected of a service of mental health during the period 2006-2007. There were compared the results registered in the interview of admission in the Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale and Quality of Life questionnaire for Cancer with the obtained ones in the third, fifth and last session. The significant differences found in both instruments indicate a decrease of the symptomatology and an increase in the quality of life of the patients.
