A total of 300 students were selected from Guangxi College of Information Engineering to receive swimming training, while another 300 students from the college were taken as the control group. Before and after the training, all the subjects were subjected to the evaluation of mental health against Symptom Checklist-90 (SCL-90). Through detailed comparison of the results, it is confirmed that swimming training has a positive intervening effect on the mental health of college students. It is also found that swimming can promote physical and mental health after reaching the moderate intensity. Therefore, the author recommended that each swimming training be continued for 45-60mins. The research findings shed theoretical new lights on improving the mental health of college students.
