PSYCHOLOGICAL MECHANISM AND LAW OF AUDIENCE ACCEPTANCE IN TEACHING OF CHINESE AS A FOREIGN LANGUAGE
Abstract
The complexity and profundity of Chinese language and culture bring many difficulties to teaching Chinese as a foreign language (TCFL). To improve the teaching effect, it is necessary to understand the psychology of Chinese language learners. This paper aims to explore the mechanism and law of audience acceptance in the TCFL, from the perspective of the acceptance psychology. First, a questionnaire survey was carried out among Chinese language teachers and students to reveal the status of classroom teaching and learning of the TCFL. Then, the cognitive psychology was integrated with acceptance theory to analyse the survey results. The results show that the audience acceptance in the TCFL is motivated by the needs, processed by the cognitive structure and adjusted by emotions; there are four laws for audience acceptance in the TCFL, namely, the need-driven law, the emotion and cognition-interacted law, the multiple-interacted law, and the method-adaptation law. This research enriches the psychological results on the audience acceptance in language learning.
