Confirmatory Factor Analysis of the Portuguese Brief Version of the Personal Style of the Therapist Questionnaire (PST-Q)
Abstract
The factor validity of the 21-item brief versionof the Personal Style of the Therapist Questionnaire (PST-Q)was examined using confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) ina sample of 384 Portuguese psychotherapists. The resultsindicated that the hypothesized five-factor model of the PSTQ's21-item brief version did not reach the expected fit indexlevels. Therefore, the model was re-estimated after analyzingdata concerning model misspecification and standardizedfactor loadings. The Portuguese version of the PST-Q revealedsatisfactory psychometric properties with regard to its internalconsistency, although alpha values were slightly lower for thisversion. Results concerning the adaptation process of the PST-Qfor the Portuguese population and the theoretical backgroundunderlying the five dimensions of this construct will be discussed.
