CURRICULUM DESIGN OF MENTAL HEALTH EDUCATION AND ITS INFLUENCE ON CULTIVATION OF TENACITY
Abstract
Under the growing social competition, many college students are under a huge psychological pressure and prone to various mental problems. This calls for rational curriculum design of mental health education in colleges. This paper explores deep into the curriculum design of mental health education and its influence on the cultivation of tenacity. The research data were collected through a questionnaire survey among undergraduates of Chongqing Normal University, with the aid of a 5-point scale. The questionnaire covers two aspects: the evaluation of mental health courses and the cultivation of the tenacity. Through data analysis on SPSS18.2, the following conclusions were drawn: more and more college students in China are suffering from mental health problems; there are several problems with curriculum design of mental health education in colleges: many teachers are not sufficiently professional, the same contents are taught at different grades, and the examination mechanism is too rigid; it is necessary to offer mental health courses in colleges; mental health education promotes the tenacity of college students. The research findings shed new light on improving the overall quality of college students through mental health education.
