EFFECT OF EMOTIONAL REGULATION ON MENTAL HEALTH OF COLLEGE BASKETBALL PLAYERS
Abstract
The emotional state of college basketball players has a great influence on their mental health and competitiveness. This paper aims to disclose how emotional regulation affect the mental health of college basketball players. First, a questionnaire survey was carried out among college basketball players in Shanghai, China, using Symptom Checklist 90 (SCL-90) to measure emotional regulation and mental health. The survey data were analyzed statistically through variance analysis and correlation analysis. The results show that college basketball players of different genders and grades differ greatly in cognitive reassessment; there is a significant gender difference in expression inhibition, and significant correlations between cognitive reassessment, depression and anxiety; emotional regulation can improve mental health to a certain extent. This study helps school educators to adjust the emotion of college basketball players pertinently.
