Acceptance and Commitment Therapy for Stigma: A Systematic Review
Abstract
In recent years, the emergence and development of third-generation therapies has been a major revolution in the way of understanding and working with psychopathologies. Among all the third-generation theories, acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) is one of the most effective and versatile treatments in the world of psychological therapies. On the other hand, it is essential to continue advancing in the design and application of interventions that eliminate or reduce the consequences of stigma. A systematic review of studies applying ACT to the field of stigma is presented. This review showed five studies. The results and their therapeutic implications are analyzed and discussed.
